COVID-19

 Ember Health Protocol

Masks: You will wear a mask during all rehearsals in the studio space. While singing, you will wear a Singer’s Mask (see below). During breaks, you may choose to wear a different mask. During Concerts, singers are tested and will sing without masks.

Construction of and Care for the Singer’s Mask

Commissioned by Ember

The Ember Singer’s Mask provides greater filtration than that recommended in the Aerosol Study referenced below. They provide almost double the protection of what have been widely marketed as “Resonance Singer’s Masks.” Each mask includes four permanent layers of approved fabric plus a replaceable filter:

  • 2 outer layers of 100% cotton

  • 2 inner layers of Pellon fusible interfacing

  • 1 removable layer of MERV 13 fabric, which can be UV sanitized between uses

The masks come in three sizes, for the excellence of fit. They have a wire housing to provide for comfortable breathing and a moldable nose bridge.

Singer's Masks should be used only for singing. Use a “street mask" for all other purposes.

Masks should be washed between uses according to these instructions:

  • Remove the MERV-13 filter.

  • Gently handwash or wash on a delicate cycle using any type of soft detergent. No Clorox/bleach.

  • Air dry to support the longevity of the materials. You may choose to use a dryer with very low or no heat. Just be aware that using a dryer will deteriorate the materials and logo over time.

These protocols are designed to conform to or surpass the requirements of NY state/NYC and the recommendations of the International Coalition of Performing Arts Aerosol Study Round 2.
